What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Sometimes referred to as a colonic or colonic irrigation, colon hydrotherapy is a safe & effective method of removing waste from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered & warm temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened & loosened resulting in evacuation through the natural peristalsis. This process is repeated a few times during a session.
Historically, colon cleansing with water has been recognized as a valuable practice in maintaining & regaining health. Colon cleansing has existed since at least 1500 B.C. as recorded in ancient medical documents.

How the colon works
The colon (large intestine is a muscular tube approximately 5-6 feet in length and has an average diameter of 2.5 inches. The small intestine empties the contents of digestion (chyme) into the cecum or first portion of the colon. The contents of digestion (chyme) are moved along by mass muscular movements (peristalsis) which is initiated by the nerve supply to the colon. The main functions of the colon are absorption of water & minerals and the formation & elimination of feces. The process of digestion from ingestion of food to defecation normally takes between 12 to 24 hours.

Why should I be concerned about my colon?
The colon has been referred to as the sewer system of the body. It is the place where we store the waste material that most of us would rather not think about until our health becomes poor or we feel constipated or have diarrhea. It best benefits the body due to the release of this accumulated congestion in the bowel. A healthy colon produces Vitamins B and K, and absorbs water. A healthy digestive tract helps support a healthy immune system.

What is colon hydrotherapy session like?
The colon hydrotherapy equipment used is a state of the art, FDA cleared with safe hygienic features such as water purification, temperature control, water flow sensors, built in sanitation system and diposable hospital grade tubing & speculums.
A session is a comfortable experience for most people. Techniques are utilized to allow a small amount of water to flow into the colon, gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release the softened waste. The inflow of a small amount of water & the release of waste may be repeated several times over 30 to 45 minutes. Deep breathing, abdominal massage, & reflexology are used to enhance your cleansing. You are kept draped at all times and your dignity is always maintained. A respectful, caring & nurturing environment is easily established with your well-being & comfort being the number one factor.

How many sessions will I need?
I recommend a series of 3 consecutive sessions. The sessions build on each other and most people experience better results. Every body is different and after your initial series we can discuss what best suits your individual needs.

Preparation
To prepare for your session it is suggested that you eat 2-3 hours before your appointment. Avoid gas forming foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, onions, beans etc. the day before & of your session.
To enhance your colon hydrotherapy session you may want to apply a castor oil pack for an hour each day for three days before your appointment to help facilitate a more effective colonic.

Appointments
I work by appointment and offer day or evening appointments as well as some Saturdays.

Fees
30 Minute consultation-$35.00
One Session-$90.00
Three to five sessions prepaid-$85.00 per

Castor Oil Packs - DO NOT USE if pregnant or during menstrual flow.

Take a piece of cotton flannel & soak with generous amount of cold pressed castor oil. If you want to warm it place in a glass baking dish & warm in the oven (no microwave). Place the saturated flannel on the abdomen & cover with a piece of plastic then a hand towel. Place a hot water bottle or heating pad over the hand towel. Leave on 1 to 1 ½ hours. Lie down & rest, meditate, read or listen to music.
After removing the pack, wash skin with a solution of 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a cup of water. Refrigerate the pack in a jar or plastic bag.
To re-use it: Saturate with the castor oil & warm it in the oven.
